While a flat belly diet doesn't mean you have to eat dull, tasteless food - it is still important to eat healthy. This is why it's crucial to have an arsenal of healthy and tasty meals and snacks at your disposal. We've put together a short guide that contains some sample meal plans and snacks. If followed closely, it will have you on the path to a flatter belly in no time!

Breakfast and The Flatter Belly

It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you often feel sluggish or slow during the day, it could be because you are not eating a balanced and healthy breakfast. Let's take a look at some healthy breakfast options that will flatten that belly and help you burn off some excess fat.

Oatmeal - Oatmeal is a great flat belly diet breakfast option. This is because it is high in soluble fiber that helps flush toxins out of your body while also reducing cholesterol. It also contains a healthy dose of fat burning antioxidants. Fueling up on oatmeal in the morning is a great way to lose weight since it keeps you fuller longer - as you'll be less prone to snacking on unhealthy junk foods.

Eggs - Eggs are often a low calorie breakfast staple at many restaurants and home meals since they are easy to prepare and are rather affordable at any grocery store. Eggs contain a high amount of vitamin B-12 which is great at breaking down excess fat. Eggs also contain a high amount of protein which helps our body burn fat since our body has to work harder to process all that protein.

Coffee - A small (and we do mean small) cup of hot coffee is a great way to get your heart pumping and get you a burst of energy, but don't overdo it. Drinking too much coffee can be bad for you in the long run as it contains a high amount of caffeine. You can add low fat milk if desired, but don't add any sugar.

Lunch Time is Weight Loss Time

Most of us are busy people. Often rushed during the midday, We grab our lunch "on the run" and don't always pay attention to getting the proper nutrition our bodies need. But, that doesn't have to be the case. You can eat healthy even without a lot of time - and get a flat belly in the meantime. Avoid the fast food hamburgers and sugary sodas and sink your teeth into some better options!

Lean Chicken and Vegetables - For a great low calorie lunch, try eating some lean chicken breasts with a side of green vegetables (such as broccoli or celery). Leafy green vegetables are high in fiber, vitamins, and actually burn more calories than you consume simply by digesting them. The chicken itself is high in protein and amino acids which speed up your metabolism. You can prepare this meal the night before and bring it with you to work. Wash it down with a glass of water, and it's a great flat belly diet option that will fill you up.

Lean Chicken Salad - Take the chicken and vegetables above, but combine all the ingredients into a salad with fresh lettuce. We recommend not using any salad dressing (try using some garlic or hot pepper for flavoring instead), but if you must - use only low fat dressing.

Low Fat Cottage Cheese w/ an Apple - The cottage cheese contains calcium and complex carbohydrates which speed up your metabolism and lower your insulin levels. The apple itself is high in fiber and contains a low amount of sugar. This is definitely a healthy lunch full of nutrition.

Dinner Time and The Flat Belly Diet

After a long day, the last thing a lot of us want to do is cook. We often turn to fast food or delivery pizza as a quick way to satisfy our hunger. All that greasy, fatty food might taste great but it definitely isn't going to flatten that belly! So, let's take a look at some healthy dinner options that are both delicious and healthy.

Grilled Pork and Vegetables - Lean grilled pork (much like lean chicken and turkey) contains a high amount of protein. As your body burns this protein off, it is expending more energy and you lose weight naturally. To compliment the lean pork, add a side of leafy green vegetables such as celery, green beans, or steamed broccoli. Wash it all down with a glass of low fat milk for a great tasting, healthy flat belly diet dinner!

(Please note - depending your personal tastes, you can also substitute lean chicken, lean turkey, or lean beef for the same effect!)

Tuna on Whole Grain Bread - Canned tuna on whole grain bread is a quick and easy to prepare sandwich full of the good things your body needs to flatten that belly. The tuna will lower the amount of the hormone leptin in your body, which in turn speeds up your metabolism. This is a great healthy sandwich you can prepare and eat in minutes. Serve with a side of green vegetables.
